Letters from the Desert
A compendium of your responses to us concerning the silencing of A Voice in the Desert
Web statistics show that visitors come to www.desertvoice.org from 83 different countries worldwide. The total number of visitors in March was 39,682 with an average of 1,280 visitors per day. The highest amount of visits on a single day was 8,174. It is our prayer that Catholics will once again have access to the inspiring words of Father Altier ﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩ And now, here are your words: Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory Forever! Fr. Altier's homilies and love of the Eucharist have been a beacon of hope
for many in Western Europe.
Dear Friends.......Greetings from New Zealand. How sad I am re the close down of Fr. Altier's Homilies. I can say without any doubt your web site has been a very large inspiration in my growth back to the RC
Church. Please convey my best wishes to Fr. Altier and know that your outreach was not in vain.
God bless, -- M.M. ~ Auckland, New Zealand What in the world happened????? I think Fr. Altier's homilies are excellent
and I often get good material and inspiration for my own homilies. What could possibly be the objection?
-- Fr. M. G. ~ California, USA I don't live in USA, so I can't go to mass to hear Father Robert. The only way to know about his homilies was with this page. I only want to thank those who made this possible in the past, because the way he explains us the Bible and how to follow Jesus, is just incredible.
I don't have a spiritual director, but I surely can say that I found a lot of answers in their homilies.
Thank you very much, and God bless you. -- R. ~ Argentina ... Fr Altier's sermon's helped us tremendously to live our faith - what a sad day that he is no
longer allowed to get his wonderful thought provoking homilies published - Lord, have mercy on us all and may He protect Fr Altier - thank you for
creating the web-site - it was great while it lasted.-- M.F. ~ England
I am writing from London, United Kingdom. I used to greatly enjoy reading Fr. Altier's homilies and was saddened to hear that he is now unable to publish his EXCELLENT sermons and counsels.
... He is inspirational, challenging, uplifting and HOLY. (and we all know how rare these qualities are nowadays).--
A.C. ~ England, UK We should all be rejoicing for being blessed with such a faithful priest!
Fr. Altier's website has won the fidelity award from Catholic Culture, as recent as February 2006 and to
disallow his homilies from his site, is a grave injustice to all of the faithful.
"Blessed are you when they speak ill
of you....for my name...." You have joined the ranks of the silenced. Your voice will be even louder
now. -- Fr. A.M.
Now, I have something to really
offer up, the silence and suffering of two people (me and my son) to that of
Father Altier and all the other holy priests ... I am sitting here looking at
the picture of the priest holding up the Host in which Jesus truly IS [on the
DesertVoice home page]. It is majestic and breath-taking and I am drawing
strength from that one picture that says it all. ... Obedience. Conform the
human will to that of the Divine no matter the consequences. Thank you. God and
Mary bless all of you. Think about the Passion of Jesus! -- C. and B. For about a year now my wife and I have been reading your daily homilies and
they have helped both of us grow stronger in our faith and closer to our Lord.
.. After we started reading the daily readings and your homilies each day we started to experience changes in our
lives. Our marriage and family started to heal and our faith grew stronger...This morning I was again looking forward to reading your homily for today's
readings and then sharing them with my wife... I am sure she'll be extremely disappointed also and
confused as to why they are no longer available. Pax Christi, -- M.O. ~ California, USA
ﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩ
What??????!!!!!! It can't be true!!!! Why??????? This was one of the best catholic
webpages!!!!!...I have no words........ ﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩ It was only in December of 2005 that I discovered your website and I always look forward to it when ever I come home from
work. Everything happens for a reason and I AM SURE THAT GOD has seen the good that will come out of this
crisis. Father Altier homilies is what the world needs today as unfortunately the loss of the sense of sin is prevalent in the world
today. I do hope that the website will return with much greater eagerness to convert souls to CHRIST JESUS .Please pray for me as I shall be getting married on Easter Monday in
Nigeria-the homilies have really helped me prepare spiritually for the up coming
event. I shall pray for you too. May GOD bless you always in the name of JESUS
CHRIST: AMEN!! -- D. ~ Nigeria I grieve for the loss of A Voice in the Desert. It is truly a desert out here, and it was my consolation to come here often, to hear the truth. I feel the darkness enveloping us, and the voices of the true shepherds becoming dimmer.
ﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩ ...let him know that there are families who struggle in the desert too. We homeschool our 8 children and no matter what happens to the ability to homeschool--we will never send our children to public school, even if that public school calls themselves Catholic. We must protect the future of the Church! We are raising holy holy holy saints, not just good Catholics.
I extend to you the Blessings of the United Hearts of Jesus and Mary!-- M.H.
Knowing your homilies have brought Light to so many, it is sad this means of evangelization has ceased-----------I'm praying for you Father and am certain your obedience will win even more souls! As St Louis would say this is a good sign!!!! much love and prayer to you dear Father, In Mary's Love, -- Sr. L.M. I love your homilies ... I am a young 14 year old man, who is very sorry to hear that you had
to take your homilies off the web. The people of St. Agnes, as well as the people who have heard you on the radio, love you....You will always be in my families prayers. We love you Father,
God bless you. Sincerely, -- A young soldier of Christ. Residing in Las Vegas, Father Altier's has been A Holy Voice and light in this sin City. My family send our Love, prayers and thanks for his sacrifice of diligence of time to provide us with hope, specially in this age of blasphemy. Thank you Father and May God Be with you Always!!! Sincerely, -- V.U. ~ Nevada, USA ﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩ I am a devout Catholic from Ireland and was a regular
visitor to Desert Voice. I was deeply surprised at finding the website had been taken off the web. Personally, I believe in freedom of speech, and in this case I believe that Fr. Altier has not been given the humane rights of speech.
... Keep up the good work. Remember me in your Prayers,
Please know that my husband and I think you are truly a Catholic
priest (unfortunately this cannot be said about a lot of priests, very sad) who wishes to teach the Catholic faith as it should be taught, in your homilies. We have been reading your homilies for a long time and they have brought both of us much closer to Jesus. ..Please keep preaching your homilies from the pulpit for those who
come to mass, at least they will be able to be continue to be inspired by them. As for the rest of us who were only able to read or
listen to them, I know Jesus will take care of this very sad situation for out of darkness he is always able to bring a greater good.
May God Bless you, -- D.D. ~ Canada The journey I am taking, through Lenten desert, has just gotten lonelier. My daily time with you via your homilies has been helping me redirect my life. I have simplified my life by coming to know the quiet that is required to know God. Your reflections have been the one piece of media that I have reduced myself to each day. Even Catholic radio can be addictive and too wasteful of my time. I will pray for you and check back from time to time. Thank you for allowing the Holy Spirit to use you in loving others.
Sincerely, --
T.S. ~ Indiana, USA
God Bless you for taking a truthful stand & telling us all how it is & the job we have to do for Jesus & Mary.....thank you for being brave & for saying all the things you do... -- N.Y. ~ Alaska, USA ﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩ I wrote to Bishop Flynn asking him to have a change of heart as I am sure
thousands have. God love you -- D.M. Thank you for your courage. ...Jesus, I trust in You, help those who don't. -- D. ~ Ontario, Canada ﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩ I'm suffering greatly without Father's homilies...... I have a few that i read them over and over
again...
I am praying for you. I am from the area where the Bishop is from
Schenectady, New York. The Bishops need much, much prayer. -- J.C. ~ New
York, USA
I live miles away in another country and daily I would look up the site to see what Father had to say.
It was such a disappointment to read that in future I will not be able to do so. The Church is suffering so much in my country as well as yours.
We are powerless if we are prayerless! So prayer is the answer to all our needs.
..United in Prayer. -- K. Dear Father Altier, Our prayers are with you. God bless you and His Holy
Mother protect you under Her mantle.
...I need to tell you that the work you have done with Father Altier's homilies and teachings have changed my life. I have a story that goes way, way beyond that... much too long and much too complicated for now. I want to thank you for your work. And may God bless you in what you have done in your work for Him. .. I live in the Chicago area. It would be most difficult to see Father Altier live in St Paul. -- R.M. ~ Illinois, USA ﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩ
ﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩ For a quite sometime I have been truly enjoying your ministry - it helped me to refocus my spiritual life... I do hope that you
will be allowed to continue with your wonderful ministry and that folks like me who live outside of your parish will continue to have opportunity to
benefit from your preaching. Once again, thank you so much for your service till now, I truly hope that
you will be allowed to resume it soon (I designed my Lent spiritual exercises around your web site). I do not know anything about the reason
for shutting it down, but I pray to God and our Lord Jesus Christ through the intercession of our Holy Mother for you and your ministry.
-- D.K. ~ California, USA Each day I come home from Mass and read your beautiful homilies. They are such nourishment for my soul, and I have told so many others who also faithfully seek Christ each day through your beautiful words. This morning I was in shock when I saw that you have been prohibited from continuing!...Come, Lord Jesus, we need you! Again, Father, you will remain in my prayers each day and in all of my holy hours before the Blessed Sacrament.
...my friend told me about A Voice in the Desert. I started reading those homilies. I could hardly believe that
anyone could preach so concisely and clearly. The messages were so simple and so profound at the same time. A sweetness and absolute love
for Jesus filled every one of them. Could this possibly be a Catholic preaching? (Forgive me, Father: we Protestants are taught many
untruths about your beliefs and Church.) I was impressed by the boldness and courage with which Father addressed the issues. There was
none of our denominational waffling here. It was obvious that Father was a wise and intelligent man, and yet he believed in the saints and
preached on texts from books I'd never heard of! And I was learning things! The Scriptures were coming alive and sometimes making sense to
me for the first time ever! ...I realize that I am well on my way to becoming a Catholic. My friend
has given me your Fundamentals of Catholicism. What a wonderful set of videos! I hope you realize how much I appreciated your internet ministries. I
am so very sorry that they have been silenced. I am praying that they may soon be restored. In the meantime, I pray that none of you loose
heart, but take fresh courage daily in the Lord. The Lord be with you. -- N.F.
God bless you Fr. Robert for crying out in this desert and preparing the way for the Lord. I hope everyone who heard you, listened well. I belonged to a strong prayer community when I lived in El Paso Texas a few years ago. Our Priest also was a voice crying out in this desert. I got the message loud and clear.
-- E.C. ~ Texas, USA My prayers are with your apostolate. I am from the Saginaw Michigan diocese. You kept me going thru our time of drought. God Bless!!! --
T.R. ~ Michigan, USA ...I had my entire Lent planned out based on that website. His talks such as "how to prepare for Lent," "the seven last words of Christ", etc. were going to be my Sunday assignment for Lent. Every Sunday I listen to Fr. Altier's homilies, which challenge me and help me so very much. I was devastated to hear the news of his silencing. I
desperately need his zeal for the Faith to keep my faith going and I know there are many others like me.
Aloha: I have been a great admirer of Fr. Altier ever since picking up his little Examination of Conscience book. I was shocked to find out what has happened to him in your archdiocese. Please tell Fr. Altier that I am praying for him and that I have written the Archdiocese asking the Archbishop to reconsider.
God bless -- E.G. ~ Hawaii, USA Yesterday when I logged onto your website I was greatly disturbed by your announcement that you will
not be publishing any longer on the web. I'm a 68 year old retired restaurant owner. Retired
just one year now. I found your website about nine months ago and have only missed a few days during that
time. You have become a regular part of my morning. I listen and then read the transcript or if both are
ready before I go to noon mass, I like to read along while I listen. You have been a great inspiration to me even though on occasion you seem to come across pretty strong. I've
never listened to you that I did not take something away. .. Respectfully, -- D.W. ~ Michigan, USA
Your homilies have been a daily meditation for me, a spiritual direction in a way that has been priceless. Through your insights, my Catholic faith has deepened greatly and my love for God has grown tremendously over the past three years. As a member of a distant
diocese and with little to no priestly spiritual direction available today, I will suffer as a result of this decision.
I join my prayers and fasting with yours in desiring God's will for all involved and concerned with this. May you especially experience His
love as you endure these persecutions. Know that your "extended" flock supports you and loves you. We praise God for your presence in our
lives and thank Him for allowing you to touch our hearts. We place our trust in Him...God Bless You, -- V.L. ~ Wisconsin, USA I am saddened and shocked that the words of God as spoken by Fr. Altier are no longer available
...What a loss for all of us. It is easy to find evil on the internet, but how difficult it is to find holiness.
For years, Father Altier has spoken directly to my heart and has helped me and my family grow in our faith. As a mother of four children, I have used his homilies and instructions to help guide
us. I have often copied parts of his homilies to send to our children in college... Sincerely, --
P.G. ..What I am concerned about is the lack of access to good quality material that I can benefit from spiritually during
this Lent and the whole year. I trust the information I receive from Fr. Altier
specifically because I have found him to be obedient to the Holy Father and to Bishop Flynn. Therefore I believe that he will be faithful to the teachings of
the church... I don't care to speculate as to why the Bishop made this decision, I only know that it has had a negative impact on my family's
ability to grow in spirituality and I ask him to reconsider. Sincerely -- M.H. Honestly, I can't believe this has been taken away from so many people.
God has a plan that we can't understand but I have to believe somehow He will take care of Fr. for all he is and gives. Our prayers are with him.--
S.C. Where can we find this kind of substance for our souls...I have never found such substance in Catholic Homilies and teachings and have referred many, if not all whom i come in contact with to view
this website to find the nourishment and TRUTH of GOD'S LOVE for them as well as a place that makes distinctions and specifies spiritual guidance for
them to find their way home to heaven....such insight and depth and beauty in these teachings plus the Priest that imparts this way of life lives the message he relays....please I ask that the flock of this shepherd be allowed to
hear the Voice in the Desert... I tell you that I am grieved by this decision...it is
the deprivation of a visible evidence that Catholicism implemented leads to Eternal Life with God. -- W.
I am writing with sadness due to the announcement. .. It had been such a comfort to have the website to go to for Fr. Altier's homilies. I would like to express deep gratitude for the past ability to read the holy words of those homilies, truly inspired by the Holy Spirit. Prayers will be continuing daily for Fr. Altier. We are surely in the hands of God. -- K.B.
ﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩﻩ
I have been blessed to on occasion visit Fr. Altier's website and have been
nourished by his homilies. It is a very sad time for all who benefit spiritually by Father Altier's homilies... how can we
blame God for anything when we prevent Him from speaking to us through those He
chooses. ....May God's Blessing and God's Divine Will be upon us all. In, With, Through and For Jesus and Mary
-- S.B. ~ Maine, USA My thoughts and prayers are with you; I was a frequent reader of the homilies and found the messages to be the moral compass we all need in these difficult times. Thank you again for being a voice in the desert. -- C.G.
...Fr. Altier's masterful teaching has led me to a better understanding of my Catholic faith. Two of my children were baptized by Fr. Altier and my marriage was officiated by him. On short notice he performed a blessing on my marriage before I was deployed to combat in the Middle East.
The entire G. Family stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Fr. Altier and confronts the works of Satan that surround us every day.
May God Bless the Archbishop. Our prayers are with him, as well as hopes that he will reconsider his position.
Blessings, -- L.G. ~ Georgia, USA You are in our prayers, Father. Keep up your good work. -- Mr.
and Mrs. M.S. ~ New Mexico, USA I am sadden that the web site is not on .Your
homilies have helped me understand God's Holy Word. I pray the Holy Spirit will guide your work back on the web.
..Thank-You for your hard work for the Lord . God Bless you my prayers are with
you. Peace in Christ, -- J.H.
I currently live in MS and his talks were a wonderful venue of information!! Not to mention encouragement in what can be a pretty dry area down here, in relation to good information!
In His Loving Mercy, -- L.C. ~ Mississippi, USA Ave Maria! When I wished to have a holy teaching and mediation on the day's readings, I would go to Fr. Altier.
For decades we have had no true teaching from the pulpit. This is true in many places such that many Catholics are woefully
uncatechised. -- L.O.
..It has been so very helpful to get a good solid Catholic homily every day from Fr. Altier. I have recently taken to printing them out daily for my 15-year-old to read to the family. His homilies have truly been spiritual drink in this desert, and there is no other priest I know who gives such beneficial and loving words of wisdom.
About a year ago I also passed on a link to my friend. At the time, she had been a fallen away Catholic for a good many years. Today, she goes to daily Mass, reads Fr. Altier's homilies every day, and prints out the ones that help her most to give to her friends...
Lent has just started and my family uses Fr. Altier's daily
homilies as part of our Lenten devotion as well as teaching...
I loved your homilies and was nourished by your words. My love and prayers I send to you at this difficult time.
Love and Blessings, -- M.B.
I am saddened by the temporary, we hope, shutdown of Voice in the
Dessert. Father Altier's daily homilies have become important to me and I miss them. I join my prayers to yours that Father's effective
ministry will soon be available again to us via Voice. --- C.J. ~ Illinois,
USA
